Marie’s Fair Isle Fisherman’s kep ( with the option of machine knitted ribs ).
Terri’s Yoke Jumper, with plain body provided, knitted in advance in your desired colour and size, in Jamieson’s of Shetland Spindrift yarn. £ 150 additional fee for this project.
Not included :
Transport to Fair Isle : You will be booked on a flight from Tingwall Airport (near Lerwick), the return fare is approximately £115, with a luggage allowance of 15kg per person, including hand luggage. Simply call the airline and pay for your fare.
In the event that the plane is unable to fly (usually due to weather), you may need to travel by ferry instead on the Thursday, the return fare is around £40. While it’s entirely your choice, please note that the holiday will begin if knitters are arriving to the island, even if you decide not to take the ferry. Unfortunately, we’re not able to offer refunds if you miss the start of the holiday due to opting to wait for a later flight.
Single en-suite bedroom available for a supplement of £ 800, limited availability.
Booking process :
The maximum number of participants is 8, and unfortunately we’re not able to accommodate non-knitting partners. The holiday requires a minimum of 6 participants to go ahead. Once that number is reached, we will contact you to arrange payment.
To register your interest, please fill out the booking form on our website. Only complete this form if you are committed to joining us.
Once contacted, you will have 7 days to make full payment via bank transfer to secure your place. After 7 days, we may release the space to another participant.
If the group is full, we will add your name to an advance notice list for future holidays.
Weather :
Weather can occasionally disrupt transport to and from Fair Isle. To ensure your experience isn’t shortened, we will adjust the start of your holiday to begin when you arrive (up to 2 days' delay). Please keep your schedule flexible by allowing for extra travel days on either side of the trip.
For example: If flights are cancelled on Wednesday the 17th and you arrive on Friday the 19th, your 7-night holiday would run from Friday to Friday.
We have secured dormitory accommodation at Islesburgh Hostel (in Lerwick) for the nights of the 17th and 18th at no extra cost, in case of delays. You are also welcome to make your own arrangements.
If weather prevents departure at the end of the trip and you need to stay longer, additional nights at the Bird Observatory will be charged at their standard bed and breakfast rate of £149 per person per night.
No additional tuition will be available beyond the 7-day programme.
Cancellation Policy :
Cancellations by participants :
No refunds will be given for cancellations made within 90 days of the start date.
Cancellations made 90 days or more in advance will receive a 40% refund of the total price paid.
Bookings are transferable to another person, but we will not manage the financial transaction on your behalf.
Cancellations by us :
In the unlikely event that we must cancel due to unavoidable or extraordinary circumstances, you will receive a full refund. No additional compensation will be provided.
We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance with “cancel for any reason” coverage.
Intellectual Property :
Designs created and taught during the holiday are the intellectual property of Terri Laura and Fair Isle with Marie.
We welcome open conversations if you have specific concerns or requests regarding the use of these designs.
Photography & Filming Notice :
During this holiday, we’ll be joined by a professional content creator who will be filming and photographing throughout the week to create content for YouTube and other platforms. This will help us share the magic of Fair Isle and our knitting community with a wider audience.
By booking a place on this trip, you acknowledge and accept that photos and video footage may be taken, which could include you and your work. These may be used for promotional and editorial purposes online and in print.
We will do our best to film respectfully and keep everyone comfortable. If you prefer not to be identifiable (i.e. you do not want your face or voice included), please let us know in advance and we will ensure you are not featured.
