£ 3,950 / per person including VAT
from the 6th of July to the 13th of July 2026 - Please note that arrival to Fair Isle can be subject to weather delays and your holiday will only start from the day it is possible to arrive on the island by public transport, plane, or ferry. If you are delayed getting in to Fair Isle we will expect you to be able to still stay 7 nights from the day you arrive.
Christel Seyfarth is a Danish knitwear designer deeply rooted in the traditions of Fanø, the westernmost island of Denmark. Raised in a sailor’s family, she learned to knit at the age of five from her grandmother. Drawing inspiration from the island’s natural beauty, including the sea, light, waves and storms, Christel’s designs are known for their vibrant colour palettes and intricate patterns.
She first met Marie in 2022 while taking part in one of her Fair Isle knitting holidays, where she created a design inspired by The Fair Isle Jumper, the iconic painting by Stanley Cursiter from 1923.
In July 2026, Christel will return to Fair Isle to host a holiday where participants will knit a unique Fair Isle scarf. The main part of the scarf will be plain knitting, and made in advance on a flat-bed machine and sewn together, allowing knitters to pick up the live stitches at each end and hand-knit the Fair Isle motif borders in the round.
The scarf design and colourways will be revealed in the spring, giving participants time to choose a main colour from Jamieson’s of Shetland Spindrift range. At the start of the week, Christel and Marie will be on hand to guide you through the design process if you wish to explore your own colour combinations.
Marie will teach a machine-knitting class to make a traditional Fair Isle Fisherman’s Kep, along with two hand-finishing classes for invisible seam :mattress stitch and grafting.
